The question of how much exercise is enough to make you medically healthy is one that Professor Ulrik Wisløff, of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, was trying to solve. So he began exploring the relationship between intensity of exercise and long-term mortality (death risk).

His mission was to find a solution that could help everyday people understand insights from their heart rate, typically captured by fitness trackers and smartwatches. Professor Wisløff and his team developed the Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) algorithm as the solution. PAI tracks the body’s response to all activity and tells the individual if they’re doing enough for optimal health benefits – with 100 PAI being the universal ideal goal. The PAI metric has been validated and published in several leading journals, with proven results, including a study published in The American Journal of Medicine that shows a 25-54% reduction in risk from chronic disease.

Part # 3. Future focused portal.

I had the opportunity to interview the chairman of a $2 billion Australian company. I asked him a simple question about what he called the four days that changed his life. (it was public knowledge that he had been diagnosed with a severe cancer event) - here is what I asked him.

"Before your cancer diagnosis, did you know an exact set of steps that would drive down your clinical risk of the number one and number, two courses of sickness, disease, and death?" ( cardiovascular and cancer events)

His answer shock me into action, and I began to create this component of The Health Lab. I realised that if he didn't know the answer to this question, then it was most likely the 4000 employees that he lead also didn't know the answer.

My father died aged 46 from a heart attack in 1989 at 3pm. It was the leading cause of sickness, disease and death back then and is today.
